Welcome to Dade County, Georgia, a slice of Americana where everyone is welcome to explore the grooviest of real-life getaways. From scenic vistas to world-class caving, hang gliding, hiking, and nature photography, there’s something for everybody in Trenton-Dade.

Dade County is famous for bluegrass and country music, Civil War sites, and outdoor recreation. From Lookout Mountain to Sand Mountain to the Dade Valley, you can hike, bike, camp, golf, fish, hang glide, spelunk, or rappel. You can also shop, take in an art festival, or watch a movie at our outdoor theater.

Visit one of Georgia’s largest and scenic parks, Cloudland Canyon State Park, on the edge of Lookout Mountain, and enjoy spectacular sunsets, gorgeous panoramic vistas, and a wealth of flora and fauna. Take in the grandeur of plunging waterfalls and the elegance of trickling woodland creeks both working together to carve 1,000-foot-deep canyons and caves along the way.

Trail systems at Cloudland Canyon State Park and at Lula Lake invite hikers and mountain bikers to explore miles of rugged trails. Or follow the gentle Town Creek Trail in Trenton, following Town Creek to Jenkins Park, where you’ll find picnic tables, quaint park benches, swings, a lovely playground, and the city pool.

Thrill seekers make their way to Lookout Mountain Flight Park, one of the world’s leading flight parks for hang gliders and paragliders. Whether you want to get certified to fly solo or just take a tandem flight, the friendly staff can help you soar like the eagles in this lifetime adventure.

Golfers can experience a spectacular game set amidst Dade County’s cliffs and valleys. The McLemore’s Highlands course has challenging cliff-edge holes while Trenton Golf Club presents 18 holes in a public, parkland-style course near downtown Trenton.

For those more interested in gentler pursuits, consider taking the family to the Wilderness Outdoor Theater in Slygo, where you can relax in the region’s largest outdoor theater. With 1,000 parking spaces for two screened feature films, you can watch from your car or bring chairs and blankets for grassy hillside viewing.

Other Must-See attractions for your itinerary include the 1926 Dade County Historic Courthouse, Veterans Memorial Park and shopping in downtown Trenton. While you’re in Trenton also check out the Oscar Ellis American Legion Post Military Museum and in Wildwood, Rosie Mae’s Alpaca Farm, Boutique and Coffee Shop will introduce you to some amazing animals.

Situated at the narrowest part of Lookout Mountain, the view from historic Covenant College encompasses incredible vistas of the Smoky Mountains across seven states. Carter Hall, the signature building on the campus built in 1928, was originally the Lookout Mountain Hotel, a luxury resort often referred to as “The Castle in the Clouds” and was known to welcome many wealthy visitors and celebrities.

You have to visit Lookout Lavender Farm to pick lavender in season or visit the Lav Shack for wonderful lavender-infused products. When you come down the mountain into the valley, you can also visit some other wonderful farms and gardens. Rising Fawn Gardens has herbal teas and tinctures and yoga retreats. Fox Mountain Farm just down the road has blueberries and u-pick flowers in season. If you're looking for farm fresh products, look no further than Iron Roots Pastures for fresh eggs and poultry. In downtown Trenton, make sure not to miss Dyer Livestock's Beef Shop, where you can get some tasty steaks or burgers for your next cookout. Heading north in the valley toward Wildwood you can check out Hawahlife for mindful retreats, summer camps and pony rides. In June, Wasawillow Farm has a huge daylily sale, but also sells produce and eggs throughout the year. There's so much to do and see, a weekend is never long enough in Trenton-Dade!
